The premier St. Columba’s College, was established in the year 1899. The department was established in the year 1954 and the first H.O.D was Prof. R.R.Prasad, since then the department has flourished well catering quality education.Later post graduate teaching in M.Sc (Botany) was also started here in the year 1983 , but this was discontinued after the establishment of V.B.U in the year 2000.
