DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

St. Columba’s College Hazaribag is a premier constituent unit of Vinoba Bhave University which was established in 1899. With the objective of imparting quality education to the youth and preparing them for the future, the college introduced Bachelor of Education progamme in 2005 after approval from Vinoba Bhave University for affiliation and NCTE recognition. Since then, it is running successfully till date developing quality teachers with enhanced professional expertise.

Since 2005, the department has generated quality alumni. At present a large number of students are working in the field of education at different levels. Many students have qualified CTET and JTET after obtaining their degree in education and are now place in government and central government institutions. Several students have further progressed to clear NET and JRF and are now involved in various research projects in different universities around the country.

To provide quality education to the youth.
To mould them into value-oriented citizens having social responsibilities and loyal to the nation by adding nobility to the teaching as a vocation with dedication.
To create an atmosphere of love and freedom by the spirit of the holy scriptures.
To aim educational endeavors at helping the prospective teachers to become intellectually competent, spiritually and emotionally intelligent, psychologically integrated, physically capable and socially acceptable so as to help in building a society with love, peace and truth.
To develop and promote empathy, patriotism and secularism.
